Continued developments
This week involved further refinements to the UI for point data. Changes were made to reflect updates made to underlying database tables. The changes were made to simplify existing structures and resulted in code that is more elegant, easy to understand and maintain. Difficulties persist with custom Ironspeed queries, due in part to the fact that around this week many classes held midterms and required project submissions. However I anticipate greater availability in the coming weeks. My web development class, although conducted using Java and JDBC / Glassfish rather than .NET and Microsoft SQL Server, has taught me a great deal about fundamentals that may assist in developing Progeos v2.0. Knowledge of, say, HTTP protocol remains relevant no matter what language or platform it is implemented with. Also, my software development class has taught me models for long-term planning and avoiding common pitfalls in development that I will apply as I go forward.
